The Twins blankets are finished
Just finished the second of two baby blankets for my husbands aunts twin grandbabies. I will be glad to see them all wrapped up in these blankets. They were tiny when they arrived but are doing great now says grandma Janet. I made these blanket out of worsted weight yarn called a pound of love from Joann's. The pattern was one someone gave me from a small little book they had picked up at Walmart called Knitting for Babies [pil]. Here is a picture of the blankets folded and laying on the back of the sofa.

Abby's Shrug, Knitted With Love and Yarn
Here is picture of a shrug Abby wanted me to knit. She picked out the pattern and the yarn. I haven't seen it on her yet but I hope it fits her the way she wants it to. It was fairly easy to knit the yarn was a bit disapointing to me it wanted to split, if I make it again I will use a heavier yarn. But it knitted up airy which will be nice in warm weather, with a sleevless top. Hope You like it Abby! Ro The Knitting Grandma

The new baby's sweater and hat
Here is a picture of My First Baby Surprise Jacket with matching hat. It is for our son's baby that is due in October. We are so happy about a new grandson, this will made our 6th, a perfect half dozen.
I started a blanket too but just work on it a few rows at a time. I do this so I can think and pray for this new baby everyday. This sweater is from one of Elizabeth Zimmermann's patterns and made with Bernat cottontots yarn. I really liked working with this pattern and yarn.

Sea Breeze socks made on the beach
Here is a picture of the socks I knitted on the beach at lake Michigan. The sock holders were made and gave to me by a friend who is like a sister to me. We just got back from vacation and I'm glad to be home, we had a great time and really enjoyed the beach on the lake. The yarn in the blue socks is Jitterbug Sea Breese. The other pink ones are the broadripple pattern and I don't remember the name of the sock yarn it was in my stash.

I just started another pair of my own basic circular socks and decide to share them with whoever might be interested. I've made them many times and they are a fast mindless sock for me to make up. They are just your basic knit 3 purl 1 ribbing at the top for 5-7 inches and then just knited the rest of the sock after the heel is finished. Hope everyone enjoys them. Very Very simple if you have any knowledge of sock knitting at all
Basic Sock Pattern on 1 size 1 circular needle
Cast on 60sts and divide sts with 32 on one and 28st on the other, knit 3 purl 1 ribbing for 5 to 7 inches.
On the needle with the 28st start heel flap
Row 1- wrong side, s1 as to purl P to the end
Row 2- right side, s1 as to knit then k1, sl1, across the row,
Repeat rows 1 and 2 until heel flap is 2 3/4 ins. long end with RS row.
Turning Heel:
WS facing you, sl 1 as to purl and purl to 11sts. P2 tog. P1 and leave 8. Turn leaving the 8 on the needle Sl 1 knitwise, knit to last 11 sts. K2tog K1 leaving 8 sts. Turn, Sl 1 purlwise, P to last 9sts. P2 tog. P1 leave 6sts. Turn Sl 1 knitwise, K to last 9 sts. K2tog. K1 leave 6 sts. Turn Sl 1 knitwise, K to last 9 sts. K2tog. K1 leave 6 sts. Turn Sl1 purlwise, P to last 7sts K2tog. K1 leave 4sts. Turn Sl1 purlwise P to last 5 sts. P 2tog. P1
Leave2sts. turn Sl 1 knitwise k to last 5 sts. k 2tog. k1 Leave 2sts. Turn Sl1 purlwise, P to last 3 sts. K2tog. K1 leave 0 sts. You should be at left corner of heel front of flap facing you. Pick up sts along sides and knit across the front in pattern or just knit.
Gosset section:
Knit 1 ssk then knit to the last 3 sts and k2tog k1. On front side just knit or do your pattern . knit next round. continue these 2 rows. Until you are back to you original 60 sts. knit now until within 2 inches of you foot length.
Toe decrease:
On both sides: Knit 1 ssk, knit to last 3 sts. k2tog.k1
Knit a round
Continue with thes 2 rows until you have 8sts. on each needle.
End knitting at the side of toe on front side. Cut yarn leaving 8 inches. Close toe with the Kitchner St.

Sunday Blues
Just got up and have the Sunday Blues. I'm sure everyone has had the blues and knows what I'm talking about. Yesterday was a great day with my socks get Grand Champion Ribbon at the fair. But about 2:00 we got a call from the doctor about some test our 12year old grand daughter had been waiting on. The test results were one of those that makes you worry about what might happen and that kind of thing can make me imagine the worse everytime. So I've got to talk myself out of this mood. Have a great week everyone. Ro The Knitting Grandma
